CURO ("the app", "we", "us") is a closed-network carpooling app for the
verified Parul University community (staff, students and interns). This
policy explains what data we collect, why, how it is used and shared, and the
choices you have.

Who can use CURO
CURO is restricted to Parul University staff, students and interns with an @paruluniversity.ac.in
account. You must sign in with your university Google account or an
admin-issued CURO account (email and password).
You provide:
- Account & profile: name, university email, phone number, designation,
department, gender, profile photo, home pickup zone and commute preferences.
- Vehicle (drivers): model, colour, registration, vehicle type and seats.
- Ride & booking activity: rides you offer or request, pickup/drop points,
notes you add, chat messages, and ratings.
Collected automatically (only while you use the relevant feature):
- Location: your device's GPS location is used to (a) publish a driver's
live position while they are offering an active ride, (b) show nearby drivers
on the map, (c) set a precise pickup point, and (d) let you share your live
location with a contact. Location is accessed only while the app is in use
— CURO does not collect background location, and a driver's location
sharing stops when the app is backgrounded or the trip ends.
- Device notifications token for delivering in-app alerts.
- Match passengers with drivers on overlapping routes and times.
- Show driver/passenger identity and contact details to each other only after
a booking is accepted, so you can coordinate the trip.
- Deliver in-app chat between riders and drivers.
- Send ride-related notifications (requests, acceptances, cancellations, messages).
- Estimate fuel-share cost and sustainability stats.
- Operate safety features (SOS, behaviour reports) and enforce the no-show /
cancellation policy.
- With other CURO users: your name, photo, designation/department and ride
details are visible to relevant users; phone numbers are revealed only to
the matched driver and passenger after a booking is accepted.
- Service providers: we use Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud
Firestore) to store data and operate the app; OpenStreetMap / OSRM /
Nominatim for maps, routing and place names. Map/route requests
include coordinates necessary to render the route.
- Transport admin: SOS alerts and behaviour reports are shared with Parul
University Transport for safety investigation.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising. CURO does not
process any in-app payments.
Data retention & account deletion
- Your data is retained while your account is active.
- You can delete your CURO account and all associated data at any time,
directly in the app: open Settings → Delete account.
This permanently removes your profile, vehicle, rides, bookings,
notifications and chat identity from our systems and deletes your
authentication record. There is no additional retention period.

from your university address; requests are honoured within 30 days.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in Google Firebase, protected by
authentication and access rules. No method of transmission or storage is 100%
secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Children
CURO is for university staff, students and interns and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be notified in the app or by
email. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance.
